IndiePay

FAQ

Answers for sellers, customers, and developers.

Learn what IndiePay is, who it is for, how UPI payments work, how it differs from sharing a UPI ID, and how developers can integrate it.

What is IndiePay?

IndiePay is UPI selling and payment management software for freelancers, creators, coaches, agencies, home businesses, Instagram and WhatsApp sellers, small businesses, and developers. It helps you create selling pages, payment links, payment buttons, and API payment flows around your own UPI account.

Who should use IndiePay?

IndiePay is useful for people who sell services, products, classes, digital goods, consultations, local orders, or custom work and want a clearer way to request, verify, and track UPI payments without building a full commerce website first.

Do I need formal business registration to use IndiePay?

IndiePay is built for individuals, freelancers, creators, home businesses, and registered businesses that use their own UPI account. You are responsible for using IndiePay only for lawful products or services and for keeping your business and UPI details accurate.

Where does the customer payment go?

The payment goes to the seller UPI account configured by the merchant. IndiePay creates the payment experience and tracking layer around the payment flow.

How quickly do I receive the money?

The customer payment is made directly to the seller UPI account configured by the merchant. IndiePay does not receive, hold, or pass customer money to you.

Why not just share my UPI ID?

A UPI ID can receive a direct payment, but it does not explain the offer, capture customer details, create an order record, show payment status, or give you a dashboard. IndiePay adds those selling and tracking tools around UPI payments.

Do I need a website to use IndiePay?

No. You can start with an AI-generated selling page or a payment link. If you already have a website, you can add payment buttons.

What can I create with IndiePay?

You can create AI-generated selling pages, payment links for chat and social selling, payment buttons for websites, storefront flows, and API-driven order flows.

How does IndiePay help after payment?

IndiePay helps you track orders, customers, UPI transaction IDs or UTRs, payment status, and verification activity from the dashboard.

How does IndiePay confirm payments?

Verification can use customer-submitted transaction references, connected device signals, merchant-side verification settings, and dashboard review. The exact flow depends on how the merchant configures IndiePay.

Can I use IndiePay for Instagram or WhatsApp selling?

Yes. You can create a payment link or selling page and share it in DMs, bios, stories, groups, or customer chats.

Can developers integrate IndiePay into an app?

Yes. Developers can use Merchant APIs to create orders, submit transaction references, check payment status, and receive webhook updates.

Does IndiePay handle or hold customer payments?

No. IndiePay is a payment management platform for UPI payment flows, order tracking, dashboard workflows, APIs, and verification support. Customer payments go to the seller UPI account configured by the merchant.

How does pricing work?

IndiePay uses pay-as-you-go credits. There is no monthly subscription, so you can buy credits when you need them.

Does IndiePay charge transaction commission?

IndiePay is designed around pay-as-you-go credits rather than monthly subscriptions. Any applicable credits, usage limits, or charges should be reviewed in the dashboard before use.

What is the Connect app?

The Connect app helps merchants connect a device for payment verification workflows. It supports transaction matching and payment status updates where device-assisted verification is enabled.

Does the Connect app need my banking password, OTP, or UPI PIN?

No. IndiePay will never ask for your banking password, OTP, card details, or UPI PIN. The Connect app is used for payment verification workflows, not for logging in to your bank account or authorizing payments.

What happens if the connected device is offline?

Device-assisted verification may be delayed while the device is offline or unable to sync. You can review transaction status in the dashboard and use manual verification where available.

What is a UTR or UPI transaction ID?

A UTR or UPI transaction ID is the reference generated by the customer bank or UPI app after payment. It helps match a payment to the correct order.

What is a transaction in IndiePay?

A transaction is the payment record connected to an order, payment link, payment button, storefront flow, or API order. It can include amount, status, customer context, UPI reference details, and verification activity.

Can I track sales and payments?

Yes. The dashboard helps you see orders, customers, transaction history, payment status, and items that may need review.

Are there transaction or usage limits?

Any applicable usage limits, credits, or feature limits are shown in the product or dashboard. If a limit affects a workflow, review the dashboard and add credits or adjust your setup as needed.

How do refunds work?

Customer payment refunds are handled by the merchant through their own UPI or banking channel unless a specific IndiePay-supported refund flow is available.

How do I get support?

Email [email protected] with your merchant email, transaction details if relevant, and a clear description of the issue.
